“Matcha” in Japanese means “powdered tea.”
It’s preparation involves covering the tea plants with shade cloths before they’re harvested. This process triggers the growth of leaves with better flavor and texture. The leaves are hand selected, steamed briefly and dried and aged in cold storage. The dried leaves are then stone-ground into a fine powder that results in the vibrant Green Matcha Tea!
Traditionally enjoyed as a whisked beverage made during the Japanese tea ceremony, today Matcha is more commonly used nowadays to make lattes and desserts.
